Chelle Wallace's entry in Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographers 2020, Day Dreamer, is a featured portfolio, and appears in the Portrait category.
The images in the series features Wallace's daughter, Poppy, a constant theme at every stage of Wallace's photographic journey. At 14, Wallace says that her daughter drives a hard bargain. "Yet for all our business-like negotiations, we both get lost in our imagination. She untethers from her device and becomes a child again, dressing up and flitting about, with no real awareness that I'm even there. We have an alchemy, few words are said. I think they will be some of our best memories," Wallace says.
Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers is the region's main platform for discovering and showcasing photographers at the outset of their careers. The competition is open to emerging, student, and amateur photographers. The prize pool currently stands at over $26,000.
Entries are now open, with standard pricing extending until 31 January, 11:59pm (AEDT). Final entries close 16 February at 11:59pm (AEDT).
