Perth camera retailer still going strong after half a century

It’s been 50 years since Perth retailer, Camera Electronic, was first incorporated by Ronald Frank back in 1971. Camera Electronic boasts three Perth locations (Stirling Street and Murray Street), along with a recently opened concept store, Wanderlust, in the Hay Street Mall.

Favoured by some of Perth’s best-known pro photographers, Camera Electronic also offers camera and studio lighting hire along with a service centre where gear repairs and cleans are undertaken. A scanning a printing services is also available.

To mark the significant milestone of half a century in business, Camera Electronic will be holding a 24-hr sale on 11 June from 12am until 11:59pm. Those in the area might also want to drop in during store hours to check out a number of activities planned for day, as well as grab a bite at the food trucks that will be on site. As well as this, anyone purchasing anything on 11 June will also go into the draw to win one of 50 prizes, drawn every day for 50 days.

A supportive member of the Western Australian photographic community, Camera Electronic often sponsors events and award ceremonies, as well as hosting regular photo walks and workshops via their education company, Shoot Photography Workshops.

Regarded as a pioneer of the Australian photography industry, Ronald Frank passed away in 2016 at age 72. Sharing their father’s passion for and knowledge of imaging, Camera Electronic is headed up by his sons, Saul and Howard. You can hear some of their expertise shared on their regular photography spot on Radio 6PR, or, better still, ring in and test their know-how.
