Full-frame Zeiss ZX1 has Adobe Lightroom built in

If you’re going to make a splash, make it a big one! Well, that’s certainly the approach taken by the German company, Zeiss, best known for manufacturing optical systems, including high-end camera lenses, and industrial measurement and medical devices. Naturally, when they decided to launch their first-ever camera, they decided to make something that people would sit up and pay attention to.

The Zeiss ZX1 is certainly no ordinary camera. A full-frame compact camera with 37.4 megapixel sensor, fixed 35mm Distagon f/2 lens, and an impressively large 4.3" touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, and pixel density of 338ppi. It offers an ISO range of 80–51,200.

But wait, there’s more! You can edit your images wherever you are, directly in-camera, with built-in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC. This is certainly going to be something that travel photographers and those that need a minimum of kit in the field will be drooling over as a way to greatly speed up workflow.

While the camera is missing a memory card slot, it does come with 512GB of internal memory which should be enough to store 6,800 RAW (DNG) images or over 50,000 JPEGs. What’s more, you can automatically back your images and video up on-the-fly and remotely access them thanks to automatic uploads to your NAS. You can also clear storage via the USB-C port.

The ZX1 will also automatically always be assured of the latest features, software, and firmware updates with over-the-air (OTA) updates. And along with Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity, it also offers Wi-Fi. The camera includes a 3,190mAh battery and can capture 4k video at 30fps and Full-HD at 60fps.

The ZX1 will be available in early 2019.
