The call for entries for Australia's preeminent contest for emerging photographers is now open, but early-bird pricing ends soon. Australia's Top Emerging Photographers 2017 is the ninth year that the competition has been held. Offering a prize pool in excess of $21,000, the overall winner will walk away with the title, Australia's Top Emerging Photographer, along with $3,000 plus an X-Pro2 camera kit from our major sponsor, Fujifilm, valued at $3,298.

Last year, the contest attracted just under 1,000 entries, with the work being judged by some of the finest professional photographers from Australia and around the globe. For some inspiration, take a look at the winning portfolios from 2016.

The overall winner in 2016 was John Feely, who won the Documentary/Photojournalism category and was a runner-up in the Portrait category. The winner of the Student category, Sarah Maslankiewicz was the overall runner-up.

This year, we've added an additional category, bring the total number of categories to ten in 2017.

The early bird deadline is Monday 13 February 2017, 11:59pm AEST.

NB: The early bird deadline was extended after some photographers experienced issues uploading images. The extended deadline will give anyone affected by these issues the opportunity to take advantage of the $20 early bird entry pricing.

Please be sure to follow the entry instructions closely, and ensure your submissions complies with the terms and conditions.
