2017 Felix Schoeller Photo Award finalists announced

A total of 30 candidates have been announced for the Felix Schoeller Photo Award 2017. The 30, across five categories (Portrait, Landscape/Nature, Architecture/Industry, Photojournalism/Editorial, Free Choice/Conceptual Photography) and the Emerging Photographer award, were reduced from an initial shortlist of 187 with photographers from 34 countries. The winners will be announced on 14 October.

The jury included Michael Dannenmann (portrait photographer, BFF, DGPh), Julia Sörgel (chief photo editor, ICON Magazine), Simone Klein (international director of the Print Sales Division, Magnum Photos), Clara Maria Sels (gallery owner and head of the Düsseldorf Photo Weekend), and Gérard A. Goodrow (freelance curator, author, and lecturer at CIAM – the Centre of International Arts Management in Cologne and Düsseldorf). The judges were requires to rate 2,377 entries from 92 countries.

During the period between 15 October 2017 and 25 February 2018, all works by the winner and nominees will be on display as part of the “Winners & Nominees – Felix Schoeller Photo Award 2017” exhibition in the Osnabrück Museum of Cultural History. The works will be printed on high-quality Felix Schoeller photo paper and presented in formats of up to 100 × 120cm in size.
